&nbsp;Any recording that fails for whatever reason where the category selected was the users personal category should be automatically imported into the user personal category. At the moment these recordings go into the Failed Uploads Screen and have to be manually imported by either the admin or the user themselves which is laborious. The only recordings that should not be automatically imported are ones where users select a non personal category.

It would be useful for a user to be able to click on a Test Recording button before initiating their actual recording. Once they have completed their short recording (say limited to ten seconds) to verify both their audio and video are working they should be able to play back the recording as a preview and then that recording should be deleted.

At the moment MEDIAL provides the admin-group “HMLadmin”, and members of this group have several rights “normal” users do not have. As we do have a big team providing a lot of videos for a lot of different people, this is handeled with a local account being member of HMLadmin, so videos can be uploaded and moved into personal categories. Problem is, that this automatically gives rights on top this group normally should not have (e.g. performing changes in the MEDIAL system). Therefor it would be really good to have a group which can access ALL categories (including personal categories), but no access for example to add or change a category. Best would be to be able to decide explitly on which components a group has access, and not only “all or nothing”.

A feature request that I could see value in for the Moodle-medial integration. Today I recorded a video sharing my screen. It was 15 minutes long and took some time to process so I walked away to give it time to complete it. When I came back, I had an error message in two bars (one pink and one green) saying that my license was expired. I tried again to view it but got the same message. I deleted the video from the text box, and I opened it up in my existing videos. I selected it and added it again, but still got an error message. I went back to my existing content, and this time I downloaded it to my computer. I then went back into Medial and uploaded it from my computer, and added it to the textbox in Canvas. It finished processing, but will not play. Error code: 232404.I know the video is recorded with no problem because I can play it from my computer. It just won’t allow it to play.

I would like a way to filter them via tags or subfolders so I can organize/group videos by course or topic. Instead, I must scroll through all of the videos to locate the one I need. The search filter is available but is inconsistent.

I have situations where a student asks me a question on their assignment that I could answer easily with a video that I have already made that addresses their question. However, in Canvas, there is no Medial icon to do this in the Comment box of the assignment. This is the box under the rubric in Speedgrader. Is this possible to add?

New feature. Multiple srt subtitle files uploaded for each video and subtitle selector in the Medial player Status: Not available. Should be implemented as soon as possible as a manual upload of SRT files on the fourth tab of the video upload dialogue. The player should allow the user to select the subtitles/captions of their choice. Discussed and agreed in the UVic-Medial meeting of 24.10.25

When I click on the checkmark it seems to want to go to “#!” (whatever that is) but it logs me out of Medial. My process is that I have my PowerPoint (I’m using a Macbook and Chrome) on my desktop when I open Medial. Then I choose to record “Both” and select “Window” and the slides I want to show. Medial then takes me to the PowerPoint where I see only my slides and not my own picture so I can’t move it to get it out of the way of the text on the slides. Also, because I can’t see anything else except the slide, I’m not sure that it is actually recording until I’ve finished and stop sharing. Are there any detailed instructions that go through the process step-by-step?

New feature. As admin. Required for controlled archiving / deletion. As discussed this is a Priority 1 item. It should be delivered very soon aftyer the new version of Medial comes out in December(?). By the end of January? (Bug fixing permitting.) Robert comments that we have a lot of one-time use cases, such as student video assignment submissions. These should be easy to identify and archive anyway. Robert also comments that a new architecture for storage and content delivery is on the rtoad map and will be much more affordable, to some extent mitigating the financial cost of poor deletion/archiving..Discussed and agreed in the UVic-Medial meeting of 24.10.25
