Additional "admin"-group

At the moment MEDIAL provides the admin-group “HMLadmin”, and members of this group have several rights “normal” users do not have. As we do have a big team providing a lot of videos for a lot of different people, this is handeled with a local account being member of HMLadmin, so videos can be uploaded and moved into personal categories. Problem is, that this automatically gives rights on top this group normally should not have (e.g. performing changes in the MEDIAL system). Therefor it would be really good to have a group which can access ALL categories (including personal categories), but no access for example to add or change a category. Best would be to be able to decide explitly on which components a group has access, and not only “all or nothing”.

Error in Adding a Video

Today I recorded a video sharing my screen. It was 15 minutes long and took some time to process so I walked away to give it time to complete it. When I came back, I had an error message in two bars (one pink and one green) saying that my license was expired. I tried again to view it but got the same message. I deleted the video from the text box, and I opened it up in my existing videos. I selected it and added it again, but still got an error message. I went back to my existing content, and this time I downloaded it to my computer. I then went back into Medial and uploaded it from my computer, and added it to the textbox in Canvas. It finished processing, but will not play. Error code: 232404. I know the video is recorded with no problem because I can play it from my computer. It just won’t allow it to play.

Bug: User Merge

When merging an LTI User account with an LDAP User account, keeping the LDAP account as the ‘Primary user’, in the LtiSiteUser table the moodle account is still connected with the now not existing LTI user. Because the LTI user account is not active anymore the moodle user is asked again if he has an LDAP account, chooses ‘yes’, tries to login, but the moodle user account is not connected with the LDAP account (I think because the moodle user ID is still in the database for that site and MEDIAL does not change the UserId in that case). So, in the merging process, there has to looked if the accounts do have matching entries in the LtiSiteUser table and the merging has to be performed there as well, so changing the UserId from the ‘not primary user’ to the UserId of the ‘primary user’, or the entrie of the ‘not primary user’ has to be deleted, so the moodle UserId is free again for the site so it’s beeing inserted when the login from moodle is performed.

Bug: Bulk Upload category

With the fix that for a personal category always the id of the contributor is taken, it now does not work to put a video in a non personal category, it is always the personal contributor category a video is uploaded to. It’s on: contributor exists: —> category id from contributor's personal category contributor does not exist: —> category id of randomly selected category Target state: subject = e-mail-address: e-mail-address exists only once (for users with status = 1): —> category id of the user with this e-mail-address e-mail-address exists more than once (for users with status = 1): contributor exists: contributor has this e-mail-address: —> category id from contributor's personal category contributor has a different e-mail-address: —> e-mail-address that is used if an contributor does not exist (must be adaptable) contributor does not exist: —> category id that is used if category does not exist (must be adaptable) subject = non personal category: category name exists: —> category id of this category category name does not exist: —> category id that is used if category does not exist (must be adaptable)

Instructions for Screen Sharing

https://scribehow.com/viewer/How_to_Record_and_Screenshare_in_Medial__h5t0jZkXSeSjf75GVzbkfw I need explicit instructions for sharing my screen and video (both) when recording. My process is that I have my PowerPoint (I’m using a Macbook and Chrome) on my desktop when I open Medial. Then I choose to record “Both” and select “Window” and the slides I want to show. Medial then takes me to the PowerPoint where I see only my slides and not my own picture so I can’t move it to get it out of the way of the text on the slides. Also, because I can’t see anything else except the slide, I’m not sure that it is actually recording until I’ve finished and stop sharing. Are there any detailed instructions that go through the process step-by-step?
